Joyeux Noël !

Cette année, j'ai choisi ma chanson de Noël ! Ce sera "Go Tell It On The Mountain".

Née au début des années 1900, elle est enregistrée pour la première fois en 1942 par Dorothy Maynor. Le titre s'installe rapidement comme un incontournable du répertoire des Negro Spirituals, interprété par les plus grands comme Mahalia Jackson ou le Golden Gate Quartet.

Dans les années 60, la chanson se modernise sous les voix de Bobby Darin, Peter Paul and Mary, Frank Sinatra ou encore Simon & Garfunkel. Depuis, ce classique s'impose régulièrement dans les albums de Noël des artistes du monde entier.

En France, c'est l'inoubliable Marie Laforêt qui adapte le titre en 1964 sous le nom de "Viens sur la montagne".
